Restoration of an 1860's Victorian slate faux marble fireplace. One of our specialities is to match existing surfaces- especially when they are right next to each other. This carved slate fireplace had an original 1860 faux marble finish which was badly damaged in spots. The original mantle and cartouche had been lost. Small side insets needed to be fabricated in order to accommodate the new mantle. In addition to the restoration all these new elements needed to match the old.
